Why Sell to Light Switch?

You have options!

You have three options for selling: we offer a 90 day consignment listing on both our website and in our e-Bay store, we can auction your item on eBay using our established and trusted seller ID which has over 75,000 visitors a month, or you can sell your items outright for cash.

You can ship your items to us, we can pick them up if you are in the Portland Oregon area, we can schedule a home appointment in New York or San Francisco during our bi-monthly visits, or you can drop them off at our conveniently located office in Portland, Oregon.

You can use our convenient on-line "Sell Form" to send a list of the items you wish to auction, consign, or sell. Once you are assigned a Consignor ID, you will receive an itemized list of what you have consigned or listed for auction via e-mail which will include item numbers and your desired price. Once your items sell you will receive an itemized receipt along with your check!

We have over four years of experience selling women’s designer clothing & accessories on e-Bay, we have a small team of experts in fashion and fashion merchandising, and we will work with you on each item to determine which will be the best option for you.

We will send a check at the end of each month for all of the items you sell on consignment or at the end of the auction cycle for items you choose to auction. We will either return your unsold items to you or we can donate them to a local women’s shelter and send the receipt for the tax deduction to you.

We can also re-consign items for an additional 90 days at half the original price or you can opt to sell them on our e-Bay store.

In addition, there are NO out of pocket charges or fees! Only when your item(s) sells and is paid for do we collect any money.

The three options for selling with Light Switch Clothing:

Sell:Consignment Boutique
-we pay cash outright for your items
-we pay 25%-35% of our estimated selling price

Auction:
-we list your item in our e-Bay store for 7 or 10 day auction
-we split the final bid price 50-50 less the listing fees
-your items will be listed using our specially designed auctions format and our expert attention to detail
-you will receive a check within 5 business days of payment having been received from the buyer
-itemized receipt of auctioned items and your reserve price

Consign:
-sell in our on-line store for 90 days at your desired price
-sold items are paid every 30 days with a check
-option to sell in any our other selling formats after 90 days
-itemized receipt of consigned items and your desired price

The Six:

These are the six criteria we look at when buying or consigning clothes, shoes & accessories.

  1. Designer/Brand (see which ones we like here)
  2. Age (unless it's incredible we don't accept things older than 2 years – we gladly accept certain vintage items.)
  3. Condition (no holes, tears, missing buttons, snags, stains, etc.)
  4. Wearability (are your items sellable in our store)
  5. Price you are asking (the minimum you are willing to sell it directly to us for or the minimum you want us to auction or consign your items for)
  6. Authenticity (we only sell authentic designer names. no fakes please!)

What happens next?

Once your inquiry is received, a representative from Light Switch Clothing will contact you regarding the approved merchandise and you will be assigned a Consignor ID. Once you receive your consignor ID, you will be able to log in and out of your account.

All consignors/sellers must sign a Light Switch Clothing contract before any items are placed in our online boutique.

Checks are issued on the 15th of every month for sold items. You will receive a receipt related to the items that are sold during that time period.

Merchandise Preparation:

Here are some guidelines to help as you prepare your items for sale.

  1. Please take time to dry clean, wash, and iron your clothes
  2. Check for stains, broken zippers, buttons, torn hem lines, etc
  3. We will be double checking everything when we receive them and will not sell or consign any items that are not in the condition stated by the client. 
  4. Items that do not meet these requirements will be returned at the consignors expense.
